Glass museum

The Hsinchu glass museum was founded and officially opened to the public in 1999. The museum was rebuilt based on the architecture which was once the government hall for Japanese senior officials arriving in Taiwan around 1930s. Now it is known as a glass museum that allow people to understand the history and development of glass manufacturing industry in Taiwan. Many beautiful glass artworks are displayed inside the museum.

With the friendly elevator designed, it will be easy for anyone to go back and forth the train station to experience different parts (both amazing of course) of Hsinchu City. The square is always filled with young and energetic performances mostly by high school students during the weekend. As for around the department store, there is a complete area that will cover all your needs.

We would suggest visitors to stick around the downtown area as long as they like, as there are plenty of things going on there, for instance the square across, the department store, and so on.

The water is clear and shallow, you can often see kids playing with the water, and there are also plenty of equipment so that elders can work out as well. You can see why it is a common place to go for families to enjoy the sunshine together. Staying around here for about an hour or two helps you relax and maybe finish a sketch, just like the citizens do often.

The Arts Center / Cultural Bureau

The Art’s center of Hsinchu is together with the City Cultural Bureau, which also has a library inside. Most of the art performances requiring tickets will be held in the art’s center, the same goes for music contests and gallery exhibition. We recommend that you stay for a high-class performance when an event is on schedule.

The art’s center has wheelchairs to borrow, and the facilities are perfectly OK for people with all conditions. You can also ask for help as there are many volunteers watching out for your needs.

The Cheng Kung lake is located in the east of NTHU campus. It was created in 1970 during the construction of the Kuang Fu athletic track. It has a wooden path along its perimeter and people go there to relax and feed the many fish. Most of the path is covered by trees.

VieShow Cinemas is located at the 4th floor of Big City. The cinema opens from 09:00-00:00 and provides many kind of movies (drama, comedy, action, romance, horror, animation, etc). They also provide 2D and 3D movies. For accessible facilities, they have an accessible restroom and special spots for people with wheelchair either in front or at the back depending on entrance of the cinema hall. The way to get in the cinema hall is also quite big and comfortable for people on wheelchair.

Hsinchu Station

Hsinchu Station opened on October 30, 1893 (original) and on March 31, 1913 (present building). It is like any station that built to help people to go from one plane to another by connecting Taiwan parts with each other’s. Hsinchu Station is a major station on the Western Line and the western terminus of the Neiwan Line. There are two island platforms and one side platform, as well as the historic fourth-generation European-style station building which opened in 1913, during Japanese rule.

Except Tzu-Chiang Limited Express southbound 133, 143, northbound 138, and some Taroko Expresses, all other trains stop at Hsinchu Station. It is also the main destination of commuter local trains in Northern Taiwan. Neiwan Line trains travel from this station to Neiwan Station. Connection to the THSR Hsinchu Station is available through Liujia Line (which branches off from the Neiwan Line's Zhuzhong Station).

18 Peaks Mountain

The 18 Peaks Mountain runs in a north-south arc through Hsinchu County. It's a forest park in a lunar shape cultivated during the Japanese Colonial Era. It got its name because it has 18 Peaks. As the Mountain is covered with thick forests and exudes the fragrance of flowers, one can feel the kind of freshness when walking on the trails. Therefore, the shaded trail of the Mountain has become one of the local people's favorite spots for recreation and exercise.
