It was a sunny day, Saturday April, 29, 2017. The biggest chance came to our team “the wall” to meet with Ms. Mei Jin Wu and Ms. Hui jen Hsu. We started our journey from Hsinchu Railway Station, they were very happy to go out and meet in such a beautiful day.

Hsinchu station is not bad place for handicapped or elderly people. Convenient elevators, bathrooms and the roads are designed in accepted conditions, but the only problem that could bother everyone (not only accessible people) is that Hsinchu station is too crowded especially on weekends, and scooter riders park there scooters near the main gate which make it bot very continent to move.

After that we walked to Hsinchu Park (near Hsinchu main circle). There were no difficulties but the roads were not very smooth and there are some high and down steeps, but in general the way was accepted, it’s not very good condition but accepted. The main problem is the fast scooters riders, those riders make accessible people feel scared and terrified.

Then, we arrived the park, it’s very well designed for accessible people, it also has exercise machines that can help accessible and old people to have exercise, but the problem here that the surrounding doesn’t have continence store. There is a tea shop but it’s not designed to serve accessible people.

Problems they face in their daily life After walking with them, we understand how difficult for them to access the common places and we are so ignorant of those problems they faced every day in their life. Some simple solutions can make their life more improved and betterment for their outdoor activities. Like some simple slope should be always there in all kinds of road, so that they can travel comfortably. So the most important thing is awareness and realization for their real problems.

Following the pictures we took and helped us understand that simple slope at the road could be a biggest help for them:

MXLLS

We, the common healthy people and the government are so careless and ignorant of their inconveniences. Here is an example from our trip:

In the following pictures, she wants to go straight and cross the road from the end of the road, but there is no slope, so she comes back, at last she needs to cross the busy road to come to the another side of the street where there was no separate road for them to travel except on the busy road.

Biggest Learning for us after walking a few steps with them

  1. Instead of all these difficulties they were always with their ever green smiling face, enjoying their lives with a joy of hope, happiness and confidence.

  2. They accept their lives very well. They know what they have and they are very satisfied with their lives. Sometimes, we the common healthy people forget the biggest treasure of our lives, always making complaining for some adverse situations. We need to learn from them how to be happy even though someone is physically challenged.

“There is a life, there is a hope”

The following pictures shows how happy they are and we are fortunate enough to spend some time with them, the real hero of our day-to-day life:

Therefore, we need them to make our lives beautiful, peaceful and happy forever. We the common people or the government of any country should do the improvement and betterment of their lives not out of any compassion or pity or doing social work, rather than to do something for them to give a chance to our lives to learn the great qualities from them.

At last

With a BIG Salute

To Them
